TYCAN Vibrating Screen Solutions for the Aggregate Industry
The Lafarge Presque Isle, Michigan operation was producing crushed limestone in a stationary plant that was over forty five years old. While the plant was well maintained, it had become antiquated and was not capable of meeting the screening efficiency requirements for the tonnage of product needed for their market. The Tycan Solution
The first objective was to meet with Lafarge and through consultation understand the challenge, goals and parameters Tycan had to work within. The project also involved working closely with J.L. Richards & Associates Limited, a structural engineering firm located in Sudbury, Ontario for the design, layout and modifications to the plant. A Tycan Engineering Study was prepared to retrofit fourteen larger Tycan F-Class Vibrating screens into the existing structure to replace LAFARGE’s smaller units. In addition, screening efficiencies were calculated for each screening stage. The use of Tycan’s dynamically balanced custom designed F-Class Vibrating Screens allowed for the mounting of four screens on each of three floors without transferring excessive vibrations into the client’s structure. By increasing the physical size of the Vibrating Screens, Lafarge was able to improve screening efficiency and increase shipping tonnage per hour to meet the demands of their customer base resulting in higher sales and increased profits. The project was completed on time and on budget. |
